Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is designed to help low-income households pay for energy services.

The LIHEAP (Energy Assistance) Program is comprised of four components: Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP), the Reconnect Assistance Program, PIPP (Percentage of Income Payment Plan) and the Emergency Furnace Program.

The PCCEO Energy Services will begin taking LIHEAP applications starting October 2nd, 2023 to August 15th, 2024 for all eligible households.

Eligible households must meet the income guidelines listed below. Applicants should present proof of income for the last 30 days, the most current utility bill, current lease or rent receipt, and social security cards for everyone in the household.

Ameren Energy Efficiency Partnership

Improve the efficiency and comfort of your home with the help of Ameren Illinois’ home efficiency incentives. Through a home audit, we can identify ways to bring your home’s efficiency up to it’s highest potential and reduce energy costs. We’ll potentially install energy-efficient LED bulbs and high-performance faucet aerators and showerheads in your home.

You can also receive incentives on several energy-efficient home improvements, including:

  • Air/Duct Sealing
  • Attic Insulation
  • Rim Joist Insulation
  • Crawl Space Wall Insulation
  • Wall Insulation
  • Heating and Cooling Systems

Eligibility is based on being an Ameren Illinois customer and meeting the income requirements based on household size, as listed below.

These figures are based on the 2022 Federal Poverty Guidelines published in the US Department of Health and Human Services in the Federal Register/Volume 87/Number 14/January 21, 2022. Given that HHS allows 150% of FPG or 60% of Sl II, where 200% of FPG is lower than 60% of SMI the program will be using 200% of FPG as our highest category. However, for the household size of 8 to 11 members, the benefit at 200% would exceed the allowable 60% SM1. for households larger than 11 members, the 150% will be set as the maximin income eligibility criteria. The state reserves the right to adjust these levels based on the availability of federal appropriations.

 Applications will be taken by appointment only.

 

Required Documents: MUST BE BROUGHT TO YOUR APPOINTMENT 

  • Verification of Gross Income (before taxes) for ALL HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS for the 30 days prior to your application date. (wages, child support, Social Security Income, Proof of DHS assistance, unemployment, Township Assistance, Self-Employment income, etc.).
  • Social Security Cards for all household members, including any children.
  • Photo IDs for all household members 18 and older.
  • Current gas and electric bills.
