A Peoria business is doing its part in feeding area children.

On February 4th, Sherman’s held a meal packing event as part of the “No Child Hungry” campaign. This campaign is working to end child hunger in America today by ensuring that all children get the healthy food they need every day to thrive. Employees at Sherman’s, along with General Manager Paul Sherman packaged 10,000 meals and boxed them up at their Peoria Heights warehouse.

The meals, which are specially designed and certified by the FDA, was delivered to the Peoria Area Food Bank on Friday.

“I’m humbled and grateful for Sherman’s donation today,” Wayne Cannon Manager of the Peoria Area Food Bank said. “They’ve come here to volunteer, and they were so gracious and willing to do whatever needed to be done. We just have a lot of gratitude.”

The meals contain the nutrition a child needs each day, and contain 21 minerals and vitamins along with soy protein and rice.

“The fact that thousands of children die each day due to lack of food and nutrition is unacceptable. I’m proud that we have the opportunity to help locally in our community,” said Paul Sherman, General Manager of Sherman’s.

In February 2018, Sherman’s buying group, Nationwide Marketing Group, formed a relationship with “No Child Hungry”, which strives to end child hunger around the corner and around the world.

Since then, the Nationwide community has collectively packed more than 1-million meals at various events around the country.
