PCCEO attended The Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies (IACAA) 2019 Annual Learning Conference in Springfield, IL from May 5th – May 7th. This year’s theme was “The Power of Community Action: Agents of Change”.

This theme moves towards learning and sharing evidence-based strategies and the latest tools for disrupting poverty. As Agents of Change, we have the power to not only improve our own local community, but also improve communities across the world.

PCCEO had a number of reasons to attend the conference. Outside of the invaluable training and education, PCCEO Head Start’s Issac Jefferies was awarded with a Family of Distinction Award. Family Development Specialist Dominique McDonald nominated Issac Jefferies due to his determination in being involved in his four boys education.

Six Family Development Specialists from PCCEO Head Start and Early Head Start also received their Family and Community Development (FCD) credentials during the conference. IACAA established the FCD Program in 1995 in response to a predominant need for comprehensive family assistance and case management in many areas, including prevention and intervention services for family violence, mental health problems, drug and alcohol abuse, and medical illness. Family Development Specialists that were pinned after successful completion of the FCD training included Maya Aldana, Jose Elvir, Tracey Fondren, Sabrina Funchess, Dominique McDonald, and Gregory Wilson.
