CSBG Scholarships Each
year, PCCEO provides Community Action Agency Scholarships.
These scholarships provide financial assistance to eligible
individuals for education or occupational training at
an accredited Illinois educational institution. Approximately
$12,000 in scholarship awards will be given in the fall
of 2008. Applications for 2008 will be available June
1 through July 14, 2008
Applicants must meet the following eligibility
criteria when applying for the Community Action Scholarship:
- Applicant(s) must be income eligible
under DCEO/CSBG income eligibility guidelines.
- Applicant(s) must be a resident of
Peoria County.
- Funds must be used to secure formal
or occupational training at an educational institution
accredited in the State of Illinois.
- Applicant(s) must be pursuing short-term
training (2 years or less) in occupational training,
general post secondary education or in exceptional circumstances
consideration will be given to applicant for general
education.
- Applicant(s) must have demonstrated
positive community/school involvement.
- Students applying for a scholarship
who have completed one year of college education or
training must have a 2.5 grade point average.
- Scholarship funds may be used for
books, tuition, fees, etc.

NOTE: Each applicant must complete a Needs
Assessment form. All eligible applicants will be interviewed
prior to scholarship being awarded.
In the past, scholarships have been awarded
to students attending Southern Illinois University, Park
University, Midstate College, University of Illinois,
Eureka College, Bradley University, Illinois Central College
and Illinois State University.
Funding for this scholarship is provided
by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity,
Inc.
